Howdy Dave, don't think we've met. Work sometimes forces me to miss weekends. Yeah, crashing, been doing that a bit too much lately Frown

Hello Everyone,

Ok well I’m now a member, almost finished my Seagull Swift 40, now off overseas for a few weeks for work reasons – bugger Yell
Just wondering what day/time is the best to meet down at the flying field, have gone down only a few times to the summer field when it was open, only to find the land sailing was on, won’t have this problem with the winter field but just wanting to know when most people are flying ?

Hi guys, I'm new to the hobby 6 months to be exact and live in Mandurah. My planes are starting to get to fast for my local park and was looking to join a club. I would assume there is a annual fee and regular meet at the field? Any help would be appreciated and I have no idea of the rules at the field to haha. Cheers lads.

Hi mate, yeah I flew at the parks here in Mandurah for 6 odd years. Got into bigger models and made the move to LMAC and haven't looked back. Parks are too dangerous. You will learn the rules as you go, there's not many anyway just basic safety really. Cheapest club to join but we don't have any hamburger stands or bitumen runways either which some feel is necessary. Just fly out of your boot during summer months (I feel your a little late for this, the gates are about to be locked for the winter if not already). The winter field is a short walk from the carpark on Safety Bay Rd. Field is behind Warnbro train station on lakes if you didn't know. Let us know if you want to meet someone there and get a crash course (no pun intended) 🙂

You can come down and try before you buy, (normally 3 sessions) have a look around and get some flying in. If you think we fit the bill then join and we will go from there. It's only the car gate that's locked to stop ppl driving on the lake. Not sure if it's locked yet as we sometimes have others lock the gate up ass about after finishing what they do (we're not the only ones with lake access) and renders our lock useless, this is happening atm. So having to do a short walk from the carpark to fly. I'm in drive in drive out mining so have time during the week too.

G'day Mustang, and welcome.
I'm a FIFO too and have joined fairly recently. Quite often go to the lake during the week to get as much in on R&R as time allows. They're a good bunch of chaps and I have had quite a lot of useful advice from them.
Apart from the driving distance , the lakes are a great place to fly .
